13th Sitting of the Health and Family Committee

At the sitting held on 9 February 2022, the members of the Health and Family Committee considered the Ministry of Health activity information for the period April-June 2021 and for the period July-September 2021.

The activity information was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Prof. Dr Predrag Sazdarevic who briefed the Committee members on the Ministry’s normative and other activities in said periods.

Sazdarevic said that, in addition to the continuous fight against COVID-19, in 2021 the Ministry of Health also dealt with the construction and equipping of COVID hospitals and taking care of the staff.

He spoke the project of reconstruction of four clinical centres in Serbia - Nis, Belgrade, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, and also pointed out the significant investments in infrastructure, hospital capacities and procurement of equipment.

All of this would not work without an adequate and continuous employment of all profiles of medical staff in the Serbian healthcare.

Sazdarevic also spoke of the continuous work on the European integration process and legislative harmonisation with the acquis communautaire, in areas under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, resulting in the finalisation of the Proposal of the Negotiating Position for Chapter 28 - Consumer and Health Protection.

The extensive presentation was followed by a discussion, after which the Committee members accepted the Ministry of Health activity information for the period April-June 2021 and for the period July-September 2021 by a majority vote.

At the end of the sitting, Committee Chairman Dr Darko Laketic informed the Committee members that in December 2021, he had meetings with representatives of the Red Cross and the Blood Transfusion Institute, to consider possibilities for encouraging voluntary blood donation because of lagging safe blood reserves.

The Committee also considered the civic petitions it had received and referred them to the competent institutions for further action.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Darko Laketic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dragana Brankovic Mincic, Dr Vesna Ivkovic, Dr Emese Uri, Natasa Ivanovic, Olivera Ognjanovic, Svetlana Milijic, Marina Mirkovic, Sonja Todorovic, Dr Dragana Barisic, Prof. Dr Goran Tasic, Dr Marko Bogdanovic, Sladjana Nikolic, Milica Nikolic and Nevena Djuric.
