12th Sitting of the Health and Family Committee
At the sitting held on 20 March, the members of the Health and Family Committee reviewed the Ministry of Health Activity Information for the period October-December 2012 and the Serbian Health Council 2012 Regular Annual Activity Report.
The Ministry of Health Activity Information for the period October-December 2012 was presented by the Minister of Health, Slavica Djukic Dejanovic who briefed the Committee members on the activities of each of the Ministry’s sectors. Djukic Dejanovic said that draft laws on the protection of patient’s rights and the protection of people with mental difficulties are currently in the works. Also, a draft law on public debt and a Rulebook on the establishment of a list of psychoactive substances have been prepared.
In the ensuing discussion the Committee members asked about the quality and control of foodstuffs, quality of healthcare services, potential for suppressing corruption in healthcare and staff planning. In the continuation, the Committee adopted the Ministry of Health Activity Information for the period October-December 2012.
The Serbian Health Council 2012 Regular Annual Activity Report was presented by Prof. Dr Dragan Delic, Council Chairman. According to Delic, the Report contains an analysis of the situation in Serbia’s healthcare system and recommendations of preventive measures against corruption. In addition, the Report contains a review of the situation in the dental service, with an analysis proposal for the funding of the healthcare system. Prof. Dr Dragan Delic also informed the Committee members that the Serbian Health Council had adopted the Healthcare Bill, which also mentioned in the Report.
The Committee accepted the Serbian Health Council 2012 Regular Annual Activity Report and forwarded to the National Assembly the Committee’s report with a Conclusion Proposal, for deliberation and adoption.
The sitting was chaired by Prof. Dr Dusan Milisavljevic, Committee Chairman.
