11th Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 21 July 2021, the members of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society considered the proposal to organise a public hearing on the topic “Digitalisation in the economy – potentials and challenges”.

Committee Chairman Academician Muamer Zukorlic said that the activities of the Subcommittee on the Information Society and Digitalisation, which has already organised three public hearings, have surpassed all expectations. He highlighted the importance of the activities outside of Belgrade, saying that after Kragujevac, public hearings are expected to be held in Cacak, Nis, Novi Sad and Novi Pazar. The Committee Chairman stressed that it is essential to raise awareness on the importance of digitalisation as a new segment of culture as a whole.

“That is why it is important to “reach the people” and the best way to do so is through the children, especially those with the highest school results. That gave rise to the idea to create programmes for the best students, overachievers from different schools, especially those outside of Belgrade”, said Zukorlic.

The Committee members were briefed on the details of the upcoming public hearing by the Chairperson of the Subcommittee on the Information Society and Digitalisation Marina Ragus. She said that the next public hearing would be held on 3 September 2021 in Cacak. Ragus urged the Committee members to share their ideas on the topic, stressing the importance of broad MP involvement.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Academician Muamer Zukorlic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Sanja Jevdjic Brankovic, Milica Dacic, Marina Ragus, Nandor Kiss, Natasa Jovanovic, Goran Spasojevic, Milijana Sakic,Vladica Maricic, Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic and Nevena Djuric.
