10th Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality

At the sitting held on 19 September, the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality discussed the proposal of the SDA Sandzak – Party of Democratic Action Parliamentary Group asking for a Committee conclusion


Committee member Dr Sulejman Ugljanin said that the Republic Electoral Commission needed to adjust the electoral rules for the elections for national minority councils called for 26 October 2014, to the electoral rules applied to the elections conducted at the local and republican level. The REC was asked, according to Dr Sulejman Ugljanin, to amend the instructions for the conduction of the elections for national minority councils.

Ugljanin then proceeded to inform the Committee members that the lists for the upcoming elections lack electoral commission members and controllers of the election process and that the opinion on the matter was expected from the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.

In addition to the Committee members, the ensuing debate also included MP Enis Imamovic.

After the debate the Committee adopted the Conclusion stating that the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality would be forwarding the proposal of the SDA Sandzak – Party of Democratic Action Parliamentary Group to the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Republic Electoral Commission for further processing, asking the Ministry and the REC to inform the Committee on measures employed within five days.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic.
