The meeting focused on the achievements defined by the Women’s Platform for Development of Serbia and the political participation of women in light of the coming elections, as well as their positioning.

The representatives of the Women’s Platform for Development of Serbia presented the Platform’s priorities in the field of political participation of women and their participation in the coming 2016 parliamentary and local elections. The data drew attention to the previous period’s challenges and achievements as regards the representation of women, especially in the parliament and local assemblies in Serbia, the initiatives and achievements of the Women’s Parliamentary Network, and the networks of councilwomen modelled after the Women’s Parliamentary Network aimed at boosting gender equality.

Besides the already discussed goals of strengthening gender equality and dialogue and including men in gender equality issues, the participants of the meeting also agreed to send an initiative to the Republic Electoral Commission to include numbers on women and men in the polling boards, strengthen the influence of women during the election campaign and do a screening of the coming elections.
