Women’s Parliamentary Network Meets with Representatives of Trade Union of Nurses and Medical Technicians of Serbia
Today, at the National Assembly House, the Women’s Parliamentary Network met with representatives of the Trade Union of Nurses and Medical Technicians of Serbia to discuss the rising numbers of attacks on healthcare workers.
Women’s Parliamentary Network coordinator Ljiljana Nestorovic suggested to the representatives of the Trade Union of Nurses and Medical Technicians of Serbia to gather as much information as they can, to define an action plan and ask for help from the European Union and NGOs. “You have a 60,000 strong army, 95% of which are women. You have to exert constant pressure on the government to make it aware of your problems”, said Nestorovic. She also added that the Trade Union should approach the Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic and the Head of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality Zorana Mihajlovic.
As coordinator of the Women’s Parliamentary Network, Ljiljana Nestorovic promised that they would work with the National Assembly’s working bodies, especially the Health and Family Committee, to help realise the plan to boost the level of protection and security in the healthcare system.
