Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic convened the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013, for Monday, 7 October 2013, starting at 10 am.
The National Assembly set the following agenda:
1. Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education, submitted by the Government, and
2. Proposal of the Decision amending the Decision on the Election of Members and Deputy Members of the Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by MP Borislav Stefanovic.
In the morning part of the proceedings, the National Assembly commenced a debate in principle on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education, which was presented by representative of the submitter - Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Prof. Dr Tomislav Jovanovic.
By the end of the day, the National Assembly concluded the debate in principle on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education and a single debate on the Proposal of the Decision amending the Decision on the Election of Members and Deputy Members of the Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by MP Borislav Stefanovic.
On the second day of the proceedings, 9 October, the National Assembly completed a debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education.
As the National Assembly had concluded the debate on the items on the agenda, the Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Vesna Kovac, set Thursday, 10 October 2013, as Voting Day on the items on the agenda for the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013, starting at 10 am.
The voting will be followed by a continuation of the First Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013.
Voting Day
On Voting Day, 10 October, by a majority of votes, the National Assembly adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education.
By a majority of votes, the National Assembly also adopted the Proposal of the Decision amending the Decision on the Election of Members and Deputy Members of the Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by MP Borislav Stefanovic.
On Voting Day, the National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session and decided that none of the provisions of the Rules of Procedure had been violated.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic concluded the Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013.
