Serbia Has European Parliament’s Full Support to Open First Negotiation Chapters, European Integration Committee Members Learn in Brussels
The members of the National Assembly’s European Integration Committee paid a study visit to the institutions in Brussels, 8 – 12 December, organised in cooperation with the EU Delegation in Belgrade.
The MEPs said that Serbia has the European Parliament’s full support to open the first negotiation chapters at the beginning of 2015 and the head of the delegation Dusica Stojkovic said that all the political options making up the National Assembly endorse Serbia’s EU membership. She said that Serbia’s administration is ready to open the negotiation chapters and that all the available resources have been harnessed for the task.
Dusica Stojkovic, Vesna Markovic, Gordana Comic, Ivan Bauer and European Integration Committee substitute member Ninoslav Stojadinovic met with the Head of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with Serbia Eduard Kukan, European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister, European Parliament Vice-President and rapporteur for Kosovo-Metohija Ulrike Lunacek, as well as MEPs Tanja Fajon, Ivo Vajgl, Tonino Picula and Igor Soltes.
The members of the European Integration Committee also met with the chief-of-staff of the Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Michael Karnitschnig and several representatives of the European Commission. They visited the European Commission Emergency Response Coordination Centre which cooperated with the relevant institutions in the Republic of Serbia during the emergency situation in May 2014 to provide assistance for the people threatened by the floods.
