Russia’s Support Important in Presenting Facts and Truth about KLA Crimes in Kosovo-Metohija, Drecun and Slutsky Conclude

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Russia Milovan Drecun met today in the National Assembly with the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Leonid Slutsky to discuss the strategic partnership between the two countries, importance of parliamentary diplomacy and mutual support at the international level, as well as the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

Expressing satisfaction that Leonid Slutsky shows constant interest in Serbia and thus contributes to the improvement of the strategic partnership and brotherhood of the two peoples, Milovan Drecun pointed out that with its 152 members the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Russia is the largest one in the National Assembly. He said that the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus had prevented the implementation of all the planned activities and cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups in the previous year, expressing confidence that delegations of the two parliaments’ friendship groups would soon exchange visits. Through parliamentary diplomacy, we can improve the economic, cultural and all other relations between Serbia and Russia, the officials agreed.

As Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija, Milovan Drecun briefed his guest on the current situation on the territory of Serbia’s southern province, stressing that the Russian Federation is the country’s strongest support on that issue at the international level.

Drecun stated that Serbia's position is not changing and that it will never recognize the false state of Kosovo, adding that the support Russia provides in preventing its membership in international organizations, such as the UN, UNESCO and INTERPOL, is extremely important. As long as the so-called Kosovo is not a member of the United Nations, and thus an internationally recognized state, its unification with Albania and the realization of the Greater Albania project will not be possible, Drecun emphasized.

The support of the Russian Federation is of key importance in the presentation of the facts and truth about the crimes committed in Kosovo-Metohija by the KLA, said Milovan Drecun, emphasizing that the truth about these crimes is different from the one prevailing in the Western world. The support of Russia, and especially Russian parliamentarians, is very important for us to present the facts and evidence of KLA crimes on as many fronts as possible and show how the false state of Kosovo was created on the brutal ethnic cleansing of the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija, said Milovan Drecun.

Leonid Slutsky pointed out that Russia is not changing its course and opined that after the elections in Kosovo, the situation with the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities was further complicated. Slutsky stated that Russian parliamentarians are ready to provide full support in presenting the truth about KLA crimes, emphasizing that the 21st century is the century of parliamentary diplomacy, which can often achieve exactly the things that are difficult in official diplomacy.

Drecun and Slutsky also discussed the upcoming session of the Russian State Duma - National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Cooperation Commission, as well as the prospects of economic cooperation between Russian and Serbia at the regional level, cooperation in the field of natural gas and electric energy and combating radical Islam and jihadism.
