Regular Consultations of Dacic and Brnabic with Justice Ministry Representatives on Constitutional Changes in Field of Judiciary

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic held another round of regular consultations today with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and representatives of the Ministry of Justice about the changes to the Constitution in the field of the judiciary.

The meeting focused on the activities of the Working Group formed by the National Assembly’s Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues currently drafting the act on Constitutional amendment.

The Working Group consists of experts, law professors and representatives of scientific institutes, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Prosecutors’ Association and the Judges’ Association. The Venice Commission praised the composition of the Working Group and emphasised the importance of a transparent and inclusive process.

The Working Group drafting act on Constitutional amendment is planned to hold an online meeting with the Venice Commission in the second half of July.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will send an invitation to the representatives of the Venice Commission to visit Serbia at the beginning of September, in order to monitor all the activities related to the change of the supreme law of the land.
