Ninth Sitting of the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in the Marginal - Most Undeveloped Areas in the Republic of Serbia

At the sitting held on 12 January 2017, the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in the Marginal - Most Undeveloped Areas in the Republic of Serbia discussed the possibility of improvement in the field of medicinal plan cultivation as a chance for development of undeveloped municipalities.


The sitting was attended by Branislav Veljkovic of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection – Rural Development Department, as well as representatives of companies dealing with the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants. In the course of the discussion, Branislav Veljkovic said that the producers of medicinal plants would be able to use the stimulation packages for the improvement of competitiveness, with 40% Ministry participation for all areas except for marginalized areas for which 65% of participation is planned. The attending discussed other options for the improvement and stimulation of development concerning the cultivation, production, sale and export of medicinal plant products.

Following the discussion, the Subcommittee members concluded that the producers should be provided with a simplified application procedure for stimulation funds and that the call for it should last from February of the current to March of next year. They also agreed to have a joint meeting in the coming period in south-east Serbia, to be attended by the Subcommittee members, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

The sitting was chaired by Subcommittee Chairman Milija Miletic, and attended by Subcommittee members Dr Marko Milenkovic and Dalibor Radicevic, as well as MP Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic.
