Ninth Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy
At the sitting held on 15 May 2025, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy were presented the Energy Community Secretariat 2024 Annual Report on the progress of the Republic of Serbia in the implementation of regulations in the field of energy.
The Annual Report was presented by Energy Community Secretariat Director Artur Lorkowski who pointed out that Serbia had made enormous progress in 2024 in the implementation of regulations and shown serious commitment to their transposition and conduct. He presented the general provisions of the Report, the progress by sector in detail, as well as the next steps in the reform processes. He said that Serbia had become one of the two Western Balkan countries with the best results within the Energy Community in the past year, which speaks of its deep understanding of the privileges and benefits that European integration brings. Lorkowski then detailed the progress in the areas of electricity, gas, decarbonisation, security of energy supply, as well as the steps that need to be implemented in the coming period. He congratulated the Energy Agency on the progress and thanked it for its cooperation, expressing hope that all the actors will have the support of the Parliament for the implementation of further reforms, so that Serbia can adequately prepare for EU accession.
Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic shared the Ministry's views on the presented Report, emphasising the importance of the MPs, as well as the general public, being informed about Serbia's progress in the past year. She said that Serbia has continued with reforms in the energy sector, which are not only Serbia's ambition for joining the EU, but also important for ourselves and our energy stability. She added that our country stands has come out remarkably good in the assessment and continues to improve the energy sector, also informing the Committee in detail about the activities carried out in all areas of the energy sector in the previous year, as well as the plans for the coming period.
The President of the Energy Agency Council, Dejan Popovic, and the President of the Republic Commission for Energy Networks, Prof. Dr Boris Dumnic, presented the work of these institutions in the reporting period, after which the Committee members exchanged opinions on the Energy Community Secretariat 2024 Annual Report on the progress of the Republic of Serbia in the implementation of regulations in the field of energy.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Deputy Chairman Nikola Radosavljevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Snezana Jovanovic, Dragana Radinovic, Ana Beloica Martac, Stanislava Janosevic, Tijana Davidovac, Goran Nikolic, Miroslav Kondic, Natasa Bogunovic, Vojislav Vujic, Dalibor Jekic, Jelena Spiric, Zarko Ristic and Dr Tatjana Markovic Topalovic.
