Judges and public prosecutors appointed at the Eighth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, held on 21 July 2005, today took the oath of office before the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic.

Judges and public prosecutors appointed at the Eighth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, held on 21 July 2005, today took the oath of office before the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia had appointed 61 judges, seven public prosecutors, and 20 deputy public prosecutors. Before assuming office, judges, public prosecutors, and deputy public prosecutors have to take the oath of office. However, the Judges Act and the Public Prosecutors Act does not require judges, public proseoHoHcutors and deputy public prosecutors to take the oath of office if they have been appointed to a new office after already serving as judge of public prosecutors. Therefore, 36 judges, four public prosecutors, and 19 deputy public prosecutors took the oath today before the Chairman of the National Assembly.

Mr Markovic and the Minister of Justice in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Stojkovic, congratulated the newly appointed judges and prosecutors, and wished them success in their future work.
