National Assembly Receives Award for Contributing to Right to Free Access to Information of Public Importance and Transparency of Work

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia received a recognition on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Right to Know Day, established in 2002. The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the recognition from the head of the jury and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Rodoljub Sabic.



The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia received a recognition on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Right to Know Day, established in 2002. The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the recognition from the head of the jury and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Rodoljub Sabic.

The National Assembly was awarded this major recognition in the category of highest public administration bodies, for its contribution to the right to free access to information of public importance and transparency of work. The explanation for the award stressed that the jury had recognised the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia among public administration bodies as one that can serve as a positive example to others in its respect of the right to free access to information and principle of transparency.

Expressing her gratitude for the award that the National Assembly had received for the first time, Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic stated that access to information is a democratic legacy and that all the Assembly currently deals with is imbued with efforts to keep each and every citizen fully informed.
