National Assembly Delegation at Conference of Regional Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finance and European Integration of Western Balkans

A National Assembly delegation took part in the conference of the regional Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finance and European Integration of the Western Balkans (NPC) with the topic “Parliamentary oversight of energy policies and energy investments”, in Budva, on 6 and 7 September 2014.

The National Assembly delegation comprised NPC Board member Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Chairperson of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy Dr Aleksandra Tomic, and Committee members Aleksandar Jovicic and Jelena Mijatovic. The conference, attended by members of parliaments and governments of Western Balkan countries and representatives of the European Energy Community, focused on the region’s energy needs, investment potentials and the legal framework necessary for a dynamic economic growth, with energy safety as a 21st century prerequisite for such a development.

The delegation launched an initiative to establish an Energy Community Parliamentary Assembly which would comprise the members of the European Parliament and the parliaments of the Energy Community member countries, which was accepted by the representatives of all the countries in the region and which would be communicated via the Network of Parliamentary CommitteesonEconomy, Finance and European Integration of the Western Balkans to the European Commission and its President Jean-Claude Juncker. At the Conference, the participants adopted five conclusions and recommendations.
