Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria and Meet with Algerian Ambassador to Serbia

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Algeria in Belgrade, H.E. Abdelkader Mesdoua.


The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria, Sasa Maksimovic, deemed the relations between the two countries friendly, stressing that there are political and economic reasons to further their cooperation. He also pointed out the importance of boosting economic cooperation in all fields, as well as interparliamentary cooperation and political dialogue for the deepening of bilateral relations. Maksimovic thanked Algeria for its assistance after the May floods. The Head of the PFG with Algeria also thanked the Ambassador for Algeria’s principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
The Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Algeria in Belgrade Abdelkader Mesdoua opined that Serbia and Algeria already share historically close ties and cooperation. Ambassador Mesdoua stressed that Serbia and Algeria have excellent relations at the political level, sharing his pleasure at the renewal of economic cooperation. He said that there are a great many Serbian companies on the Algerian market, such as Hidrotehnika, Energoprojekt, Hemofarm, Jugoimport, Putevi Užice, as well as a number of small and medium-sized enterprises. The Ambassador believes that cooperation with African Arab countries would prove to be of big economic significance for Serbia in the future.
The meeting was also attended by the following members of the PFG with Algeria: Zoran Babic, Jelena Mijatovic, Dr Sulejman Ugljanin, Nenad Milosavljevic, Nevenka Tosic, Dr Aleksandar Radojevic, Aida Corovic, Enis Imamovic, Sabina Dazdarevic and Dragomir Karic.
