MP Katarina Rakic at Meeting of SEECP PA General Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Security Cooperation

Member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the South East Europe Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly Katarina Rakic is taking part in the meeting of the organisation’s General Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Security Cooperation, on 9 and 10 February, in Istanbul, Turkey.


The meeting, attended by representatives of the parliaments of the nine SEECP member states is divided into a number of sections dedicated to the situation in the field of justice and improvement of regional cooperation in combating cross-border crime, as well as the status of Syrian refugees in Turkey.

After each delegation presented the situation in the field of justice and measures employed to combat cross-border crime, the participants concluded that the regional dimension of the cooperation between the member states in the field of justice, rule of law and combating crime and corruption is a crucial element and sine qua non prerequisite for a democratic society and legal state. The activities of the South East Europe Cooperation Process Parliamentary Assembly General Committee on Justice, Home Affairs and Security Cooperation should contribute to a better exchange of information and best practices in the field of justice, home affairs and security cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the General Committee adopted a Report on “Regional cooperation: Opportunities for cooperation in the field of justice” and a Resolution calling on the member states to step up their efforts toward improving the fight against cross-border crime and establishing the rule of law.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the parliaments of Romania, Turkey, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia and Serbia, while the representatives of Pristina attended as special guests.
