Linta Meets with Delegation of Alliance of Municipal Associations of Refugees and Displaced Persons of Republic of Srpska – Bijeljina

Miodrag Linta, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, met with a delegation of the Alliance of Municipal Associations of Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Republic of Srpska – Bijeljina to discuss opening six offices at the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The objective of the offices will be the return of property to the Serbs who had property on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to offer legal assistance in the matter. During the war, Linta said, about half a million Serbs were exiled from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and according to rough estimates on the territory of Sarajevo and elsewhere there are between three and five thousand residential units and other property which had not been returned to the Serbian population. They also discussed having a roundtable in Bijeljina to be attended by representatives of the relevant institutions of the two countries to launch the operation of the six offices.

The representatives of the Alliance of Municipal Associations of Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Republic of Srpska – Bijeljina Ignjat Simic, Jugoslav Despotovic and Nedeljko Coric also spoke about the coming parliamentary elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in October. They said it would be a good idea to enter the elections with a collective list of all the parties active on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina so as to strengthen the position of Serbs as regards employment, protect the cultural heritage and encourage education. Linta suggested initiating meetings with the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and Patriarch Irinej of Serbia on the issue.
