Head and Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Portugal Speak to Portuguese Embassy Chargé d’Affairs
The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Portugal met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Portuguese Embassy, Jose Amaral.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Portugal, Prof. Dr Mileta Poskurica, informed the guest about the recently established parliamentary friendship groups at the National Assembly, among which is the one with Portugal, boasting 20 members, which reflects the MPs’ great interest in continuing to cultivate good relations with the friendly people of Portugal.
As regards the two countries’ future cooperation, he pointed out that in order to fulfill both sides’ expectations, economic cooperation between Serbia and Portugal should be intensified. Cooperation in the fields of culture, health, sports and social dialogue should be among the topics of future talks between the two countries, which the cooperation between the two parliaments’ respective friendship groups should greatly contribute to. Poskurica also thanked Portugal for the help it lends to Serbia on its progress toward the European Union.
The Chargé d’Affairs of the Portuguese Embassy, Jose Amaral, said he believed that the good political cooperation between the two countries would continue in future and commended the efforts Serbia makes to come up with a solution to the Kosovo issue in dialogue with Pristina. He also announced Portuguese investments into the field of renewable energy.
The officials agreed that parliamentary friendship groups are a strong mechanism of communication and expressed belief that future meetings between the two parliaments’ respective friendship groups would provide the opportunity to address topics important for the improvement of overall cooperation between Serbia and Portugal.
The meeting was attended by the following members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Portugal: Ninoslav Giric, Slavica Savic, Mirna Kosanovic, Ranka Savic, Milorad Mijatovic, Tamara Tripic and Tanja Radovanovic.
