In her address Gojkovic said that though Serbia and the Republic of Srpska actively cooperate in many areas, there is still plenty of potential to intensify this cooperation, stressing that one of the parliaments’ key goals should to improve the living standards of the citizens in the Republic of Srpska and Serbia.

Therefore, she stressed, all the efforts of the legislative cooperation and work should be directed toward improving the economic framework, business environment and employment opportunities especially for young people, adding that the Serbian Parliament’s current legislature had passed more than 300 laws, many of which were reform laws.

“In that way our parliaments will stimulate economic growth and trade of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Gojkovic.

The Serbian National Assembly Speaker said that it is important to have the parliaments support governmental projects, stressing that the current infrastructural and energy projects will significantly contribute to the improvement of economic cooperation.

Speaking of economic cooperation Gojkovic said that judging from the potential and mutual interest of the businessmen, the volume of trade and investment, as well as their quality as regards establishing higher forms of cooperation such as common projects and joint ventures onto third markets, could be considerably higher. The Serbian National Assembly Speaker said that Serbian companies have high expectations from the realisation of joint infrastructural and developmental projects, such as project “Podrinje”.

“In the coming period, it is important to see how we can speed up the work on the transportation network between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, first and foremost the road to Bijeljina and Visegrad, and to complete the works on the Bratunac – Ljubovija Bridge. I believe the construction of the roads we are working on will bring Serbia and the Republic of Srpska closer together, as well as Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Gojkovic.

Stressing that a higher influx of investment and economic growth of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska and the whole region hinges on stability, Gojkovic said that Serbia and its government headed by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is committed to stability and progress of the entire region.

“Serbia respects the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in line with the Dayton Accords. Serbia will clearly, firmly and undoubtedly always stand by the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Srpska will never be alone”, said Gojkovic in her address to the members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.

In the meeting, Cubrilovic stressed that the Republic of Srpska too wishes to raise cooperation to a higher level in the interest of the citizens of both of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, adding that the Serbian Parliament’s vast experience is truly important for the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.
