The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic met today with the President of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez, currently in visit to the Republic of Serbia at the invitation of Speaker Gojkovic.
“Our relations have been traditionally good and friendly for 73 years now. We are grateful for Cuba’s manifest respect of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, especially for Cuba’s stance in the UNESCO vote on Kosovo-Metohija’s bid to join the organisation”, said Gojkovic.
Gojkovic said that political dialogue and good relations should be accompanied by stronger economic ties and higher volume of trade, and that the National Assembly is prepared to ratify all agreements signed by the two countries’ respective governments in the fields of economy, transport, health, tourism, culture, etc.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 73 years ago, the two countries’ relations have improved every day to become a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
Hernandez said that his visit to Serbia demonstrates firm intent to continue the political dialogue at the highest level, as well as contribute to the improvement of cooperation, and reaffirmed Cuba’s principled support of Serbia’s protection of its territorial sovereignty and integrity.
