Eighth Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction

At the sitting held on 17 January, the members of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction deliberated on the Bill on the Confirmation of the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Romania, submitted by the Government, and the civic petitions and proposals submitted to the Committee.

Zoran Milosevic, acting assistant minister at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, presented the Bill saying that it regulated the rights and obligations of all the insured in the signatory countries, not just their nationals, in all spheres of social security. The existing agreement only regulated medical insurance. Speaking of pension and disability insurance, Milosevic said that the new agreement makes it possible to sum up the years of service regardless of which of the two signatory countries they were earned in, and adjust the benefit payments accordingly. Speaking of health care, Milosevic said that according to the agreement, the costs would be borne by the country of employment for all, except employees of diplomatic/consular offices or envoys who remain in the purview of the country deploying them.

Following the presentation, the Committee members adopted the Bill on the Confirmation of Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Romania.

Following a short discussion, the Committee also adopted the Working Group’s Report of the processed civic petitions and proposals submitted to the Committee from December 2016 to date.

By majority vote, the Committee also adopted the proposal to put forward Committee member Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic as candidate of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction for member of the Commission for the Control of the Execution of Criminal Sanctions.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Dr Vesna Rakonjac, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic, Aleksandra Maletic, Prim. Dr Branimir Rancic, Prim. Dr Vlado Babic, Bojan Torbica, Vesna Nikolic Vukajlovic, Dr Predrag Jelenkovic, Gorica Gajic, Marija Janjusevic, Tatjana Macura and Aleksandra Majkic.
