Eighth Session of the Second Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2004

The National Assembly adopted the following agenda for the Eighth Session of the Second Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2004, which had been convened by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, for Monday 13 December, and was postponed for Tuesday 21 December.


The National Assembly adopted the following agenda for the Eighth Session of the Second Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2004, which had been convened by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, for Monday 13 December, and was postponed for Tuesday 21 December:

1. Bill on the Election of Deputies to the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro, proposed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
2. Bill on the Transfer of Competences of Military Courts, Military Prosecutors’ Offices and Military Public Defence Attorneys’ Offices, proposed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
3. Election of a Member of the Republic Committee Charged with Monitoring Conflicts of Interest from the List Submitted by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts;
4. Termination of office and election of judicial officials;
5. Proposal of the Decision on the Appointment of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, proposed by the Culture and Information Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia;
6. Proposal of the Decision Amending and Modifying the Decision on the Election of Members of Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, proposed by deputy Veroljub Stevanovic, chairman of the Serbian Renewal Movement – New Serbia Deputies’ Group;
7. Proposal of the Decision Amending and Modifying the Decision on the Election of Members of Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, proposed by deputy Tomislav Nikolic, chairman of the Serbian Radical Party Deputies’ Group;
8. Proposal of the Decision Amending and Modifying the Decision on the Election of Members of Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, proposed by deputy Miloljub Albijanic, chairman of the G17 Plus Deputies’ Group.

On the first day of the session (21 December), the National Assembly discussed the Bill on the Election of Deputies to the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro in principle and in particular.

On the second day of the session (22 December), the National Assembly discussed the particulars of the Bill on the Election of Deputies to the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro.

The Assembly then went on to hold discussion in principle and in particular on the Bill on the Transfer of Competences of Military Courts, Military Prosecutors’ Offices and Military Public Defence Attorneys’ Offices, as well as joint discussion on the Election of a Member of the Republic Committee Charged with Monitoring Conflicts of Interest from the List Submitted by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the termination of office of judicial officials, the Proposal of the Decision on the Appointment of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, as well as Proposals of Decisions Amending and Modifying the Decision on the Election of Members of Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, convened the Voting Day session immediately after discussion ended on all items from the agenda of the Eighth Session.

On Voting Day, the National Assembly adopted the Bill on the Election of Deputies to the Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro and the Bill on the Transfer of Competences of Military Courts, Military Prosecutors’ Offices and Military Public Defence Attorneys’ Offices in their entirety.

The National Assembly elected Dr Danica Petrovic, director of the Musicology Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, member of the Republic Committee Charged with Monitoring Conflicts of Interest from the list submitted by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Rodoljub Sabic was appointed Commissioner for Information of Public Importance.

The National Assembly went on to adopt the Proposal of the Decision on the Termination of Office of Justices of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia, Ljubomir Popovic and Mirjana Rasic, the Proposal of the Decision on the Termination of Office of Justice of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Katarina Manojlovic-Andric, as well as Proposals of Decisions Amending and Modifying the Decision on the Election of Members of Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

Concluding the Eighth Session of the Second Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2004, Mr Markovic underlined that “in this year, the National Assembly adopted 87 Acts and 96 decisions – a record number for any one year of any previous convocation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.”
