Dubravka Filipovski Attends Presentation of Guidelines for EU Support to Civil Society 2021-2027

European Integration Committee Deputy Chairperson Dubravka Filipovski attended the “Presentation of Guidelines for EU Support to Civil Society for the period 2021-2027”, organised by the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue.

Addressing the gathering, Filipovski pointed out that the National Assembly enjoys continuous cooperation with NGOs with regards to bills and amendments, committee work and public hearings.

"The cooperation between the European Integration Committee and the National Convention on the European Union, defined by the National Assembly the Resolution, adopted before the beginning of Serbia's negotiations with the EU on 21 January 2014, is particularly intensive," said Dubravka Filipovski. She added that under said Resolution, the European Integration Committee has three special responsibilities: to consider proposals for Serbia's negotiating position with the EU, to coordinate the work of other committees within in the process of European integration and to take into account the recommendations of civil society, that is, the National Convention.

The National Convention on the EU, as an assembly of civil society organisations, monitors all chapters via working groups and is part of the official and binding procedures and consultations in the National Assembly, stressed the Deputy Chairperson of the European Integration Committee.

Filipovski opined that civil societies have duties and objectives of general interest and act as mediators between the authorities and citizens.

"The European Integration Committee will continue its excellent cooperation with the National Convention on the EU, especially bearing in mind Serbia's foreign policy priority, which is membership in the European Union," concluded Dubravka Filipovski in her speech.
