Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Deputy Chairman Speaks with Bosnia and Herzegovina Brcko District Delegation
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Milimir Vujadinovic met today with a delegation of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vujadinovic said that Brcko is the "lifeblood" of the Republic of Srpska and greatly important for the Republic of Srpska and the status of Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general. He reminded the guests that the state of Serbia has never before been helping its community across the Drina as much as in the last decade, bearing in mind that these are also its citizens. He said that the important infrastructure projects Serbia is investing in the area of Brcko, Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina are as much an identity as an infrastructure issue.
"There is no city or municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina where the state of Serbia has built anything so far. This is now a historical turning point and every city and municipality in the Republic of Srpska has a project financed by the Republic of Serbia. The effects of that will be seen in the coming years," Vujadinovic said.
Sinisa Milic, President of the Assembly of Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighted the specificity of Brcko as a local self-government unit, viz. a condominium jointly owned by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska. He used his first visit to the Serbian Parliament to remind the hosts that all those who have the citizenship of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia follow developments very closely and give their support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. The delegation of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of Srdjan Blazic, Head of the Budget Commission, and MA Davor Solaja, Coordinator of the Government of Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, asked for support from the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region to resolve the problems concerning the recognition of diplomas, as well as organising consular days in Brcko, citing the good functioning of the office of the Government of the Republic of Srpska as a good example.
