Chairs of National Assembly Committees Meet with UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights Delegation

The chairs and representatives of eight National Assembly committees met today with a delegation of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.


The discussion with the representatives of the UN Working Group was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Aleksandar Markovic, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Expenditure Veroljub Arsic, Chairman and Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government Dr Ugljesa Mrdic and Ana Krstic, Chairman of the Environmental Protection Committee Milimir Vujadinovic, Chairman of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Haji Milorad Stosic, Chairman of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee MA Milovan Drecun, Chairman of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications Ugljesa Markovic and the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy Nikola Radosavljevic.

The representatives of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, Lyra Jakulevičiene and Robert McCorquodale, presented the Working Group’s mandate, as well as issues of importance for its operation, primarily the application of UN principles in the area of business, business entities and human rights.

The participants exchanged views on the implementation of adopted legal documents and planned legislative activities related to respecting human rights in labour relations, the implementation of projects of national interest, as well as the application of environmental protection principles. They emphasised the support of the Republic of Serbia for the preservation of the multilateral framework for the protection of human rights under the auspices of the UN.
