Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society Meets with Dr Komlen Lalovic

Muamer Zukorlic, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society, endorsed Dr Komlen Lalovic’s proposals for the improvement of the status of the IT sector in the Republic of Serbia.

In the meeting at the National Assembly House Dr Komlen Lalovic proposed introducing computer science as a subject in elementary schools as a solution to improving the status of the IT sector. The proposal contained seven items, among them the suggestion that a minimum one National Education Council member be the IT sector, that teachers in schools be trained computer scientists, not majors in other sciences such as mathematics or technical education, and to set up a reward system for those who achieve notable results in renowned international competitions.

Muamer Zukorlic agreed with the proposed solutions and stressed that the doors of the National Assembly are always open to the citizens’ healthy ideas, adding that educational reform can only happen if we the institutional and non-governmental organisations join forces. The Committee Chairman also said that representatives of IT associations should make their voices heard in all fields, from proposing amendments to laws to raising awareness on the abovementioned ideas in the media.

Zukorlic and Lalovic agreed that the information technologies hide a huge potential for young people who could present the Republic of Serbia in a favourable light and it is everybody’s duty to draw attention on the IT sector.
