39th Sitting of the of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction

At the sitting held on 26 November, the members of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction reviewed the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs activity information for the period 1 April – 30 June 2019 and 1 July - 30 September 2019.


Bojana Stanic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, briefed the Committee members on the Ministry’s normative activities, documents passed and prepared in the reporting period.

Among other things, the Law amending and modifying the Law on Employment of Foreigners was passed in said period, as well as a number of rulebooks and conclusions.

She also informed the Committee on the realized international, program and project activities and activities within the Ministry’s purview concerning Serbia’s EU accession.

The Committee accepted the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs activity information for the period 1 April – 30 June 2019 and 1 July - 30 September 2019 by majority vote.

State Secretary Bojana Stanic went on to present the Bill on Agency Employment which adjusts the labour legislation to EU directives. “The objective of the Bill is to ensure equal pay and other basic working conditions for agency employees directly employed by the employer user” said Bojana Stanic.

The Bill amending and modifying the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance was presented by acting minister assistant Zoran Milosevic who said that the amendments equalize the mandatory pension and disability insurance for nationals and persons working on the territory of Serbia for foreign employers. Milosevic said that the amendments also concern family pensions viz. divorced spouse and common law partner has the right to a pension if they had been in a marital/common law relationship no less than three years.

Following a brief debate the Committee members proposed that the National Assembly accept the bills in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dragan Savkic, Josip Broz, Prim. Dr Branimir Rancic, Vesna Vukajlovic Nikolic, Slavica Zivkovic, Radovan Jancic and Prim. Dr Vlado Babic.
