At the sitting held on 3 December, the members of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications reviewed the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Postal Services (RATEL) 2017 Activity Report.

The Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Postal Services 2017 Activity Report was presented by RATEL Director Dr Vladica Tintor who briefed the Committee members on the activities RATEL conducted in the reporting period. 2017 brought over two billion RSD in income, with the expenses amounting to about 902 million RSD, and added that the difference was paid into the budget of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

In 2017, mobile telephony yielded over 110 billion RSD in income i.e. 922 million EUR, while the income from mobile data transfer was approximately 4 billion RSD.

Tintor said that Serbia has 8.62 million mobile telephony users, while landlines are on a slight slump of about 2.5 million users. Postal services had gone up by about 4% compared to 2016 while the number of parcel service customers had increased considerably.

Tintor informed the Committee members that in November 2017 the RATEL Managing Board adopted an Activity Plan for 2018, covering eight strategic priorities. He also informed the Committee about RATEL’s normative and programme activities and international cooperation in said period.

Following a discussion, pursuant to Article 237 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, the Committee ascertained the Conclusion Proposal that it accepts the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Postal Services 2017 Activity Report and forwarded it to the National Assembly for further deliberation.
