24th Sitting of the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in the Marginal - Most Undeveloped Areas in the Republic of Serbia

At the sitting held on 22 December, the members of the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in the Marginal - Most Undeveloped Areas in the Republic of Serbia discussed the damage caused to agricultural crops and forest vegetation by wildlife.


Subcommittee Chairman Milija Miletic said that in the past years wildlife had mostly damaged arable crops, especially corn, making it is essential to implement adequate measures to protect agricultural households.

Sasa Stamatovic, acting director of the Forestry Directorate, emphasized the importance of farm insurance and subsidizing hunting ground users as in providing additional food for the wildlife.

Bratislav Cirkovic of the Nis hunting association said that the farmers need to be trained to make sure that the damages caused by wildlife be brought to a minimum.

Finally, the Subcommittee Chairman concluded that the local self-government and hunting associations should work together to adequately educate the people in the field.

The sitting was chaired by Subcommittee Chairman Milija Miletic, and attended by Subcommittee members Zarko Bogatinovic, Mladen Lukic and Dalibor Radicevic.
