23rd Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society
At the sitting held on 21 July, the members of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society deliberated on the Bill modifying the Law on Higher Education and the Bill modifying the Law on the Basic Principles of the System of Education and Upbringing, submitted by the Government.
Elaborating on the Bill modifying the Law on Higher Education, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Dr Srdjan Verbic said the modifications concern the number of exam periods and funding from the state budget after the expiry of the deadline for the completion of regular studies.
Following a long debate, the Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Bill modifying the Law on Higher Education in principle.
Elaborating on the Bill modifying the Law on the Basic Principles of the System of Education and Upbringing, Minister Verbic said the proposed modifications concern the elimination of the special provisions regulating the termination of employment of teachers and expert professionals unlike other employees of an institution to ensure that all employees exercise the right to termination of employment and corresponding pension under the same conditions.
