13th Sitting of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region
At the sitting held on 2 July, the members of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region discussed the Information on the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, scheduled for 5 and 6 July 2013 in Belgrade, Status and Activity Information on the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region and the Report on the visit of the delegation of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region to Timisoara, from 23 to 25 May 2013.
The Information on the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region was elaborated by the Director of the Office for the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dr Slavka Draskovic. Draskovic presented the programme of the third Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region and briefed the Committee members on the Assembly’s scope and operative problems so far.
The President of the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region, MA Jelena Kis presented the Status and Activity Information on the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region to the Committee members, speaking of the projects the Society has realised so far and the problems it encounters when trying to secure operative funds. Radivoje Dabic, Secretary General of the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region, informed the Committee members on the existing Draft Law on the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region.
The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region announced that the Committee’s Working Group would formulate the amendments and modifications to the existing version of the Draft Law on the Society of Emigrants and Serbs in the Region and forward them to the Office for the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, and the Office would in turn forward them to the Government which is to draft the Bill.
The Committee members then went on to adopt the Report on the visit of the delegation of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region to Timisoara, from 23 to 25 May 2013.
